Passionate about PHP and the PHP community, Eric and John have been holding local monthly meet ups, weekly co-working gatherings, have spoken at past conferences, written articles for php[architect], contributed to open source projects, as well as host and contribute to the podcasts PHPUgly, php[podcast], and Larachat.
In 2012 John and Eric started The DiegoDev Group where they committed to bringing good coding practices and standards to clients.
We had spoken about bringing a local PHP conference to San Diego for years as we saw a lack of options for local developers to be able to attend well organized talks. At the time, "life" was too busy with new families and new businesses starting. There also began a rise of community driven conferences, although still not in southern California, Texas and Washington State seemed to be bringing the community conference closer to home. In 2017 a few of the local conferences closed down around the state and we thought about how much we enjoyed San Diego, how great our community was and that it would be a great place to host a conference for people to attend. After reaching out to a couple other conference organizers we felt we had enough direction to get the wheels turning and WavePHP was born.
